Dating and second life
SL Relationships |
Dating is such a popular subject on the internet. There are
tips and tricks that tell you how to woe your love interest, or how to approach
an attractive person. However, this is not a post for real life (RL). This is
a post for finding love on, the popular online game, Second Life.
There has always been a plat6form to meet people online.
Whether it be on a chat room, an online game, or forum, people have always been
able to find love online since the dawn of the internet.
Second Life gives a platform for online dating; however it
takes it to a much higher level. People play second Life for many different
reasons. They do not join the community, necessarily, to find love. Like RL,
love just happens. On a chat room, you would be attracted to the person’s
personality. You don’t know what they look like. On SL, you have a visual aid.
If you see an attractive avatar, then you immediately think about approaching
them. You may ask “who cares if someone has a hot avatar? Why would it matter?
It’s not real” well yes, it is not real. However, people do care about
attractive avatars. Why? Because many of the SL community spend countless hours
and resources to develop couple animations. Be it cuddling, dancing, or sex,
there is always something that will bring your avatars together romantically.
Doing these animations with an attractive avatar is much more exciting and
pleasurable.
If someone spent a certain amount of time and money to make
their avatar look attractive, the the odds are that they will not be interested
in some cheap, freebie avatar boyfriend or girlfriend. You might think “It’s
not the avatar, but the person behind the computer that counts”. You might be
right, however much of the SL community don’t share that view. For most people,
an SL relationship does not extend to their real life. So basically, what you
look like and what type of person you are in RL does not matter. What matters
is what your avatar looks like and who you are in Second Life. I know that the
majority feel this way. However, there are a few people that actually care
about the real person behind the keyboard. They decide to meet in RL, and even
sometimes go as far as getting married in rl.
Here are a few tips when approaching someone in Second Life:
-First read their profile. This is important because a lot
of people write :”Not here for an SL relationship”. It’s also important to
check if they have specified their sexual orientation.
-You can either approach the person on public chat or a
private message. Many people use Private messages because they are afraid of
being rejected in public.
-Start off by saying “Hi! How are you?’ instead of “Hey
sexy, wanna bang?’
-Try going out on a couple of dates before you start getting
all touchy feely.
