Buying and Renting land in Second Life

Buying and renting land- Second Life

Like I’ve said in my Second Life Post, having your own space in second life is very much possible. Your own space could be useful for a number of reasons. Be it personal, business related, or just somewhere to dump your pets, whatever the reason is I would strongly advise getting your own space in second life.
There are a few ways of getting your own space. First, and most expensive, is purchasing your own Sim. A sim is a massive island. This will put a huge hole in your pocket. It costs $1000 to buy. Then, you must pay linden labs $200 per week to keep it. It’s a lot of money, so people usually set up their businesses on the sim or rent out pieces of the sim.
This brings me to my next point, renting. People who own sims usually rent out a portion of the land. Depending on the size, the price of rent will vary. Renting a piece of land is a much more, financially, reasonable option. Let’s say you rent a medium size land with 1200 prims, it should go for about 1400$L per week.

Next, I want to talk about skyboxes. A skybox is a box floating in the sky (DUH!). Inside the box is a piece of land or a building. It’s very private. The prices of skyboxes vary depending on prims limit and size. Skyboxes are the cheapest investments. You can get a small skybox, fully furnished, and with 50 prims for only 100$L per week.
In conclusion, I would just like to say that you should invest in something that will cater to your needs. If you are one a budget, then spend a lot of time looking around for something that is close to what you need, but affordable. Trust me, if you invest time in looking around, you will definitely find something that is perfect for you and also affordable. Some people just go crazy with rent prices…so watch out for them.
Factors to take into consideration when looking for a place:
-Prim Limit
-Size
-privacy
