Being Safe on second life

Being safe on Second Life

Second Life
Anti Griever

Second Life is a great experience. In My previous posts I have given you a few good reasons why. However, just like other online games, you run into your casual freakazoid. The magnanimity of SL’s community means more than just a few of these creeps hanging around. If you’re a female, and you have a hot looking avatar, then more often than not you will run into a guy who requests sex from you. These guys aren’t so bad, just report them if they start to harass you. Be grateful if they don’t come to you butt naked and with an erect penis.

Besides those harmless perverts, there are more dangerous people to watch out for. Beware of people sending you objects through IM. Some of these have viruses or malicious software. Only accept objects from people you know. Watch out for grievers. There are “Anti-griever” HUDS available for purchase at the second Life market place. The point of it is to fight off people that are bothering you. However, grievers use these HUDS to bother and harass other players. If they are bothering you with it, than leave the sim. If they continue, than report them to linden labs.

DO NOT accept Teleport invitations from strangers. A horny person might be teleporting you to a rape sim, where you will lose control of your avi and then you will be forced to watch as your avi gets violated. If you are new to second Life, then don’t trust too many people. A lot of people enjoy helping newbies, while others set out to take advantage of them. Be Careful. Another thing to watch out for, are scams. People who claim to have something you need, they ask you to pay them, then they run away with your lindens. Make sure anyone you do business with is Legit.

Vampires in SL will try to send you bite requests. If you click yes, you will have problems if you ever decide to join the blood lines role play in SL. Also people don’t like the idea of a stranger holding them and biting them. Just click no when you get a random request.

Those are my SL safety tips. Visit the Second Life forums for procedures on how to report someone.
